Until regulations are created to limit the chances for spread of Johne’s disease among herds, M. paratuberculosis will continue infecting more herds in the U.S. and likely most every other country with a significant dairy industry.

Eventually, almost all herds could become infected. The epidemic spread of Johne’s disease is illustrated in this graph.
